PLUTO is a finite volume grid code solving hyperbolic and parabolic conservation laws on a static grid or adaptive grid. The code is mainly intended for fluid and plasma physics application in an astrophysical context, with a special attention high-energy astrophysical phenomenon. Within the SPACE framework, only the static grid version of the code is being upgraded to GPU leaving Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) as a future task. The newly developed GPU version (gPLUTO) shares the same underlying philosophy of its predecessor (PLUTO) and a high-level description of the code and the main algorithms may be found in §3 of D1.2 (see deliverable section).
